Taming The Beast?!?
The room is plain and fairly empty. A few hours before, it had been a small study, but Set and Dia have cleared all of that stuff out and made it a much more fitting arena to face The Beast in. After all, he is going to be violent enough when he realizes what they are going to try to do to him. It probably isn't a good idea to give him access to anything that could be used as ammo.
Dia watches as Set paces around the room checking the various wards that he placed on it when they moved in. They aren't anything special--just a few detection runes--but they were never meant to do anything like keeping The Beast in check. The Beast himself has seen to it that Set can't do anything like that. That is why Bazett is stopping by. She doesn't have to try and work around The Beast to do her work; she can just do it.
Set flops down into a cross-legged sit in the middle of the floor and sighs, "I think that's it until she comes. Hopefully, it won't be too long. I think he's starting to wonder. I'm trying to distance myself, but..."
Dia nods, fingering the capped needle in his hand, "I'm really sorry about this. I hate having to do it."
"Don't be, it has to be done and this is the safest way. Just promise me something," Set gives him a hard look. "Make sure you make the most of this. You need to talk to him. I doubt he's going to let us get away with this very often. Heck, maybe not ever again. This might be the only chance we get."
"I-I know," Dia's voice wavers a moment and then he steadies himself. "I am preparing myself. It's going to hurt, but hopefully it will be the first step toward making it so it doesn't hurt so much anymore."
Set smirks and motions for Dia to come and sit with him. When Dia joins him, he wraps his arms around his lover, "That's my Baby! You have no idea how good it makes me feel to hear you say that."
Dia blushes slightly, but doesn't reply. Instead, they wait for Bazett to again make her way into their home.

"Lass, do you think you could do some snooping if they let you in? I mean, you were once one of them, right?"
"Set, that is way too dangerous!" Dia seems startled that Set would suggest such a thing even though it is a viable alternative.
no subject
Bazett perks up at this suggestion. It had never passed her mind before, but it does sound like a good idea.

"Babe, babe, calm down. She's a big girl and she is my master. She can take care of herself and if things go bad, remember," Set reaches out to comfortingly squeeze his lover's shoulder, "she is an assassin and a berserker herself. She is going to make one hell of a mess and in the meantime we will just have to sneak in and pull her out. No biggie!"
no subject
She looks toward Dia.
"I must do this. Otherwise, our progress would be too slow."
no subject
"Worry less and if you can't, then just plan what we would do if she does get into trouble. That way we will be ready to act," Set catches Dia's gaze with his own. "She made Assassin for a reason, Babe. Trust in that."
Dia keeps Set's gaze for a few moments before finally looking down and nodding, "I know. It's just hard. I would rather be the one doing this. It is my quest. But in this case, it can't be me and that doesn't sit well."

"No kidding. You need to learn to stop though," Set reaches out and ruffles his hair. Afterward, he drops his hand to his lover's chin and makes him look at him. "I'm serious. You make light of it, but you have to slow down or else you're going to make a mistake that will cost us all. You have a lot to do, but you aren't alone anymore. I might not be able to do much, but I will do all I can and so will Bazett. Won't you, Lass?"
no subject
She takes several gulps of her coffee now that it has cooled down a bit.
no subject
Dia laughs too, then shakes his head with a sigh, "I'm really sorry about all of this. You are right of course. Bazett, do you have any idea how you might decide to approach the Association? Are you going to continue to hide what you are or just be straight with them?"
no subject
She has slowed down on her coffee, sipping it as she thinks.
"I will need a way to communicate with the both of you and a backup plan if anything goes wrong."
no subject
Set laughs, "You know, this would be a good time to figure out how that journal does what it does. It would be nice if it could watch you for us and let us know if you need help. Of course, we wouldn't want anyone else to be able to see. It would kind of defeat the purpose of being sneaky."
no subject
But there were two Berserkers. The mind of a Berserker was not exactly a safe place.
"To see it, they would need to find it first. Is it possible to use it to monitor me and then delete the entry?"
no subject
"I don't know if setting a communication rune between to Berserkers would be a good ides, but if you set it between me and you, Bazett, would that work? You have much more control than Set does, and I won't panic in a bad situation."

"Would it be easier just to set up meeting times and if you miss those then we will assume that something is wrong and attempt to free you? If you are just meeting with me, it probably wouldn't be too hard to outwit the Association members watching me. Maybe. I've never really tried before."
no subject
She looks over at Set, and then back to Dia.
"But now that the Beast is somewhat subdued, I believe that we might be able to meet in a secure location."
no subject
"Unfortunately, there really isn't any way to prove to them I'm not lying just to get them to back off is there?"
no subject
She shakes her head.
"But that might be too dangerous.
no subject
"However, in an effort to be open and look like we are still working with them, it might not be a bad idea for me to talk to someone about this. If nothing else, it could serve as a distraction," Dia points out. "And I know you don't like me speaking with them, Set, but I think this time should be an exception. Again, if nothing else, it might throw them a little bit and that will make things easier for Bazett."
no subject
"And what will you do if they trust you too much? If they believe that the Beast can be controlled to a degree, what would they think about you?"
no subject
"Or perhaps she is worried that they might decide you aren't necessary anymore," Set's eyes narrow. "That is something that worries me as well. Before you were vital to controlling The Beast. If they get the idea they don't need you anymore..."
no subject
no subject
"That one will be much harder on them," Set's voice has a hint of a growl in it. "If they do anything to you, neither The Beast or I will be accepting anything. They are going to have to find someone with enough ability to put something into place without either of our consent. It can be done, of course, but with a servant's magic resistance in play it will be much, much harder to get it to stick."
no subject
It goes without saying that she try to avenge him on the Association if he died.
no subject
Set doesn't say anything, but he does grin at her like a maniac just in case she's forgotten what being around him is like with how serious they have been tonight.
