Taming The Beast?!?

The room is plain and fairly empty. A few hours before, it had been a small study, but Set and Dia have cleared all of that stuff out and made it a much more fitting arena to face The Beast in. After all, he is going to be violent enough when he realizes what they are going to try to do to him. It probably isn't a good idea to give him access to anything that could be used as ammo.

Dia watches as Set paces around the room checking the various wards that he placed on it when they moved in. They aren't anything special--just a few detection runes--but they were never meant to do anything like keeping The Beast in check. The Beast himself has seen to it that Set can't do anything like that. That is why Bazett is stopping by. She doesn't have to try and work around The Beast to do her work; she can just do it.

Set flops down into a cross-legged sit in the middle of the floor and sighs, "I think that's it until she comes. Hopefully, it won't be too long. I think he's starting to wonder. I'm trying to distance myself, but..."

Dia nods, fingering the capped needle in his hand, "I'm really sorry about this. I hate having to do it."

"Don't be, it has to be done and this is the safest way. Just promise me something," Set gives him a hard look. "Make sure you make the most of this. You need to talk to him. I doubt he's going to let us get away with this very often. Heck, maybe not ever again. This might be the only chance we get."

"I-I know," Dia's voice wavers a moment and then he steadies himself. "I am preparing myself. It's going to hurt, but hopefully it will be the first step toward making it so it doesn't hurt so much anymore."

Set smirks and motions for Dia to come and sit with him. When Dia joins him, he wraps his arms around his lover, "That's my Baby! You have no idea how good it makes me feel to hear you say that."

Dia blushes slightly, but doesn't reply. Instead, they wait for Bazett to again make her way into their home.

She gives him a slight frown.

"As a practitioner of magecraft, I have some degree of magical resistance. His face is a charm--one that I have no intention to fall to."

The malicious mocking the Beast subjected them to could not be called teasing. She has seen Cu Chulainn's teasing. At worst, he only produced slight embarrassment and awkwardness. But the Beast was actually picking at a person's most sensitive points.

"And if what Cu Chulainn says is correct, his charm is an unconscious one. Even if I am affected, it would not be his fault. In the end, you are still hurting him."

"Woman, no one hurts him more than he hurts himself," The Beast turns away from them again and heads back into the middle of the room. "But all this talk is booooring me. I don't want to talk anymore." He turns back with a grin. "Do you want your Baby back now Little Bird? You can talk with him."

"No, we need to talk to you. You are the one who pops up at odd times. You're the one who hurts me and threatens to hurt other people. If you really care about me, you will keep talking with us," Dia states calmly.

"Then come in here, Little Bird. I will not keep talking to you with this barrier between us," The Beast fixes him with a glare. "If you expect honesty, stop hiding."

She steps in front of Diarmuid.

"I will enter if you require it. Diarmuid stays outside."

If Diarmuid went inside, it could easily become a repeat of that night.

The Beast sighs, lacing his hands behind his head, "I want my Little Bird, not the stranger than He seems to like more than He should. How about you both come in?" He pauses, pulling his hands down and looking at them. "You set something on me. Shouldn't that make everything okay? Or do you suddenly not trust your own work?"

"He treats me as he would treat anyone--with knightly courtesy."

To tell the truth, she is wary of his speed though she has restrained the strength in his hands.

"And do not think me so foolish as to release you easily."

The Beast laughs loudly and then drops into a cross-legged sitting position on the floor much like Set had done before, "Please, we both know it's more than that. Don't kid yourself."

Without waiting for a response, he turns from Bazett to Dia, "I mean it, Little Bird. I am tired of talking. If no one will fight me, then I'm letting him back up. If you want to talk more, you have to come in here. I will even let the little lady finish her rune work if that is what she wants. But I want to be able to touch you. And don't give me anymore of that bull about her hurting you if I leave. We both know it's not going to happen."

Dia is silent for a moment, then turns to Bazett, "As much as I hate to ask this, can you restrain him farther if he lets you? We are no where near finished talking, but I suspect he will do just as he is threatening if we don't go in."

She takes a moment to consider her options. It had taken her so much work to get the Beast to start talking. She could not let it all go to waste now. It was a great risk, but she had to take it. She gives Dia a nod. "Then, I will dismiss the runes for now." Another verbal command, and the ward vanishes.

Dia half expects The Beast to rush them the moment the ward falls and he is greatly relieved when that doesn't happen. Instead, The Beast remains where he is sitting. He almost looks like he's waiting for something and after a moment, Dia realizes what it is.

"He's waiting for you to finish the runes you started to put on him before, Bazett," Dia points out. "I will wait here if it will make you more comfortable to have me away until you are done."

"That was the deal, no? I'm not completely unreasonable," The Beast grins wildly. "Just mostly."

Bazett had also expected the rush, so the Beast's actions and words make her blink in surprise.

"Eh? Really?"

After a moment, she walks toward the Beast and squats down next to him.

"Thank you, and excuse me."

She begins to sketch out the runes on the Beast's legs.

The Beast watches her with curious eyes, though that grin is still on his face, "Hmm...you've got a soft touch, don't you? Feels like you have a lot of experience with this."

"Leave her be," Dia snaps from the doorway. "The sooner she can finish, the sooner we can continue talking."

"And the sooner I can touch you. After all, I don't care about the talking. It's you I want," The Beast points out before looking back at Bazett. "Done yet? As good as you are, I would rather it was my Little Bird touching me, not you."

"Drawing runes? Yes, I do. I probably did it enough times while I was alive."

She throws a glance back at Dia.

"Hurt him and I will restrain you even further."

"Not quite what I mean, but I'll be good. And so just how much have I been restrained little lady?" The Beast asks with smirk. "Just how good do you think you are?"

"Come on, please just leave her be," Dia takes a few steps closer to them. "Bazett is it safe for me to go to him?"

"...Yes, for now."

She stands up and takes a few steps back, allowing Dia to approach.

"Awww, but you never told me what you did," The Beast looks sad for a moment, but the look vanishes as soon as Dia comes closer. He reaches out for him and almost coos, "Little Bird."

Dia lets The Beast wrap him in his arms and just hold him for a moment. After a short time, though, Dia pulls away slightly, "Okay, we need to talk now."

"Must we?" The Beast rolls his eyes. "What is so important?"

"Everything," Dia fixes him with a sharp look. "We have a lot of things to talk about."

Bazett does her best to shake off her surprise at seeing the Beast act so gentle.

"Yes, we do. First, explain your erratic behavior. Second, we must discuss the terms of our association with each other. That is what I wish to discuss. I am sure Diarmuid has further questions--more specific ones."

"Why do you have to talk to me about these things?" There is a whine in The Beast's voice, "Just talk to Him."

Dia gently turns The Beast's head so he will look directly at him, "It does no good just to talk to Set when you can take over whenever you want. Now, you're having one of your lucid times. Please, work with me here."

"Little Bird what do you expect from me? I am an animal. I cannot control myself most of the time," For a moment, The Beast actually looks a little sad and he raises a clawed hand to gently touch Dia's face. "Even just a little earlier tonight, I couldn't."

The Beast pauses and looks toward Bazett his brow furrowed in confusion, "Have you done this?"

"He does not understand you. He does not know what you say. To work this out, I have to speak to you."

Her voice is softer now that the Beast shows no immediate aggression.

"I restrained your power. Even if you wish to break him, you would be unable to do so unless you exerted a much greater amount of effort than you usually would. That is all I have done."

The Beast looks away from her for a moment and pulls Dia to him, almost like a security blanket, "As you say. So what do you want to talk about so badly. I'm listening."

"It is probably best if you discuss what you want first, Bazett. There is no way to guarantee how long he will remain this lucid," Dia lets himself be held despite the slightly uncomfortable position. If it will keep The Beast calm longer, than he can deal with it.

The Beast seems to sense his discomfort and shifts their positions so that Dia can rest his head against his shoulder. Once they are settled, he starts stroking Dia's hair waiting for Bazett to speak.

"Whether you like it or not, I will be working with Cu Chulainn and Diarmuid, in a business relationship, at least. It is of great importance that we seek out other Heroic Spirits before the Association would. I ask for your cooperation. Please try your best not to attack me or Diarmuid. Right now, you are providing the worst distraction from what he wants and needs to do."

"Why does he need to do it? We are fine as we are. You do it. If something goes wrong, then they will take my Little Bird away," The Beast's arms tighten unconsciously around Dia.

"It's not that easy My Wild One," Dia's voice is soft, and The Beast starts a little at the pet name. It's been a while since he's heard it. "This really is something I need to do. You say I am weak and I am, but I am trying to fix that now."

"But what if the Association gets angry, Little Bird. You know they are just waiting for a reason," The Beast almost sounds scared. "I don't want to leave you and He doesn't either! They-they will use you! They will HURT you to make us do what they want!"

It is strange, seeing this utterly different creature, the being that is called a Beast, act in such a human manner. She can evern see the slightest traces of Cu Chulainn's behavior in the Beast's.

"I do not have the same experience with technology that he does. Nor can I explain things as well as he could. If you are worried about what might happen to him, Beast, you have my word as a Heroic Spirit that they would need to kill me before I allow Diarmuid to come to harm at their hands."

Was not that night in the basement proof enough?

The Beast looks at her and then back at the man in his arms, "I have no reason to trust you, but He does. And my Little Bird does. You realize even if I agree while I can think, I can't promise that I will have control of myself enough later to keep my word. Surely you understand what it is like to be like this? You are one yourself."

"We understand that, we merely wish for you to try," Dia states from his place in The Beast's arms. "Or stop to think if we ask you to stop."

The Beast drops his head to rest against Dia's, "I haven't been able to hold you like this for a long time. I have missed it. Will you call me that again? I have missed that as well."

"You mean My Wild One? Of course," Dia smiles. "It is what you are no matter what. My Wild One."

The Beast sighs happily and shuts his eyes for a moment, "I will try. I can't make any promises, but I will try."

"Thank you. If you cannot control yourself, then I must ask you for permission to restrain you. I cannot set up runes as I have now, but I can at least hold you back."

She has to wonder why his behavior would change so much now that he is physically weakened. However, she does not say anything else and simply watches Dia and the Beast. Their interaction is heartwarming, in a twisted way.

The Beast is quiet for a moment, then looks at her with a serious look in his eyes, "Is there something you can set on me, permanently, now while I'm calm? I'm not kidding when I say that trying to restrain me when I'm that out of control isn't a good idea."

Dia blinks in surprise, "You are seriously willing to permanently weaken yourself?"

"Losing you is not acceptable," The Beast states, looking him in the eyes. "I will do whatever I must to protect you."

"I..."

She frowns.

"Anything I do to your body would affect him as well. I suppose I could give him gloves and shoes with binding runes instead of strengthening ones, but you would have to consciously activate them."
